Heading into the first race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase, Erik Jones seems to have all the momentum on his side.

Jones was quickest in the first practice session of the weekend with a fast lap of 29.728 seconds.

Michigan winner Daniel Suarez was second quickest in practice. Suarez finished out the regular season second in points, but is seeded third in Chase standings behind Jones and Elliott Sadler.

Non-chaser Sam Hornish, Jr. is looking to spoil the party in the Bluegrass State, putting his No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing third on the leaderboard.

Ty Dillon and Brennan Poole grabbed the fourth and fifth spots in practice.

Rounding out the top-10 was Matt Tifft, regular season points leader Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, Josh Berry and Brandon Jones.

Blake Jones, attempting his XFINITY Series debut this weekend, spun at the end of the session, but didn’t hit anything. Jones was 27th in practice.
