Having to battle with multiple late race restarts, Joey Logano also had to hold off a hard charging Kyle Larson to bring home the victory in the Boyd Gaming 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Leading 106 of the race’s 200 laps, the No.12 was able to lead the most important lap to net Team Penske their first victory of the season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series along with netting Ford their second victory of the season. Brad Keselowski, Logano’s teammate, won segment two but following an unexpected pit stop to fix a loose wheel on lap 108, he would fall out of contention and finish tenth.
Kyle Busch, last weekend’s victor, led a majority of the first half of the race, but would find himself in seventh as the checkered flag fell. Busch takes a week off from the Xfinity Series for next weekend’s Dash4Cash race as he has more than five years experience in the series.
Speaking of regulars, Justin Allgaier led the charge finishing fourth and netting 47 points to his bucket. With his eighth place finish, Elliott Sadler was able to leave “Sin City” with the points lead by just four points over Daytona winner Ryan Reed. Leaving the third race of the season, we still only have one driver locked into the playoffs but with a limited number of Cup regulars in next weekend’s Dash4Cash race, a Xfinity regular could be heading to victory lane and with just a little bit more money in his pocket.
