Erik Jones Leads Weather Shortened First Daytona XFINITY Practice

The opening round of XFINITY Series practice on Thursday Afternoon at Daytona International Speedway saw teams only get about 25 minutes of track time as weather made an impact during the originally scheduled 55 minute session.

Only 29 of the 43 cars on the entry list took time as Erik Jones paced the field during the first practice session with a lap of 46.547 seconds (193.353 MPH).

Jones’ Joe Gibbs Racing teammate David Ragan was second followed by Ty Dillon, Brandon Jones, and Justin Marks rounding out the top five.

Brennan Poole, Darrell Wallace Jr., Joey Logano, Justin Allgaier, and Aric Almirola rounded out the top ten.

Notables include: Austin Dillon 11th, Daniel Suarez 13th, Ryan Sieg 16th, Ryan Reed 19th, Chase Elliott 21st, Elliott Sadler 23rd, and Brendan Gaughan 26th.

Final XFINITY Series practice is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. ET.
