Hornish Leads First Iowa XFINITY Practice

Sam Hornish Jr. is picking up right where he left off at Iowa Speedway last month.

Hornish won June’s race at Iowa while driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. This time he is driving for Richard Childress Racing and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Hornish piloted his No.2 Ruud Chevrolet around the .875 mile oval in a time of 23.825 seconds (132.214 MPH). Hornish was .099 seconds quicker than his RCR teammate Ty Dillon who was second.

Daniel Suarez was third followed by Elliott Sadler and Darrell Wallace Jr.

Justin Allgaier, Dakoda Armstrong, Austin Theriault, Blake Koch, and Erik Jones rounded out the top ten.

Notables include: Brandon Jones 11th, Josh Berry 12th, Brandon McReynolds 13th, Brendan Gaughan 14th, Ryan Reed 17th, and Brennan Poole 18th.

The XFINITY Series will return to the track later on this evening for final practice at 7:00 P.M. ET.
