Despite starting mid-pack, Mack DeMan made his way through to score the Lucas Oil T.Q. Can-Am Midget feature victory on Saturday at Flamboro Speedway.
The first heat didn’t go cleanly, with Darren McLennan spinning off of turn four. Barry Dunn picked up the win ahead of Mack DeMan, Steve Murdoch, Darren Dryden, Darren McLennan and Adrian Stahle.
The second heat saw Adam Racine pull off with a mechanical issue on Lap 3 while Rob Neely picked up the win ahead of Jeff Blackburn, Ryan Fraser and James Marche.
Come feature time, it’d be Barry Dunn starting pole ahead of Murdoch, Marche, Dryden, Fraser, Neely, Blackburn, DeMan, McLennan, Stahle and Racine.
The start of the feature saw Dunn and Murdoch battle for the lead, with Murdoch taking the top spot on Lap 2. Neely then got alongside Dunn for the top spot on Lap 2, taking it. However, he wasn’t able to breathe for long as DeMan also made his way by Dunn, getting alongside Neely for the second spot on Lap 3. DeMan then took over third at Lap 4 ahead of Dunn and Dryden as Neely fell back through the field.
Meanwhile, Blackburn had put himself solidly in the sixth spot at Lap 5. His night came to a grinding halt on Lap 6, though, as he got loose, spinning sideways, before going for a lazy roll over. He’d climb out of the car afterwards, uninjured in the crash.
Murdoch got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of DeMan and Dunn, as Dryden and Fraser rounded out the top-five. DeMan kept working at it, though, and was able to get by Murdoch on Lap 9 to take over the top spot. Dunn continued to run third ahead of Dryden, Fraser, Neely, McLennan, Marche and Stahle. Neely kept working his way back to the front, passing Fraser for fifth on Lap 12, followed by a pass on Dryden a couple laps later to move into fourth.
Mack DeMan led the rest of the way to score the victory ahead of Steve Murdoch, Barry Dunn, Rob Neely, Darren Dryden, Ryan Fraser, Darren McLennan, James Marche and Adrian Stahle.
